It doesn’t matter if you’ve been doing it for years, or are a first timer. Bring The SASS is designed for you to go at your own pace, because it’s more than a dance class…it’s a space to feel the essence of who you are.

Finer Details

What does SASS mean?

Basically, our SASS is our essence.

It’s also the secret not-so-secret acronym for the cornerstones of our practice…

Self       Awareness      Sensuality       Soul

Self Awareness:

Contrary to popular belief, self awareness isn’t about thinking, because the “self” isn’t the thinking mind.

Getting out of our heads and into our bodies enables our perspective to shift, and our awareness to deepen. We inhabit our WHOLE SELF: mind, heart, body and soul!

“To be sensual, I think, is to respect and rejoice in the force of life, of life itself, and to be present in all that one does, from the effort of loving to the making of bread.” – James A Baldwin

This quote encapsulates our attitude towards sensuality.

Dancing brings us into the present moment, and into our bodies.

To truly feel what it is to be IN OUR BODIES helps rewire negative body beliefs, and brings new levels of vibrancy and sensitivity into our physical selves.

Our soul is the core of who we are. But, sometimes, there are layers we need to dive through to get to it….the overactive mind, the tense body, the wound up nervous system.

Taking time to peel back the layers and connect with our soul is vital for our overall wellbeing.

Bring The SASS has been described as “moving hypnosis”, that will slowly but surely bring you back…to YOU.

“I definitely take the energy work that we do in class into my life, learning to hold my boundaries and sit in my own energy and not take other people’s energy on.”

— Celeste, 33

What if I'm feeling nervous?

It is completely normal to feel nervous when you’re trying something new, especially if you’re not 100% sure what it is! Rest assured you won’t be the only one.

Bring The SASS is quite different from a typical dance class, because the focus isn’t on how your dancing looks to others, but how it feels for you. Our teaching style incorporates lots of verbal cues, guiding everyone to focus on their own experience, and gradually let go.

If you’re not feeling confident, that’s ok! Bring The SASS is designed for everyone to go at their own pace. We dance in a dimly lit space and don’t use mirrors, so you don’t have to “dance infront of anyone”.

It is suitable for any body type. Whether or not you have a dance background is irrelevant to us. All that matters is a willingness to give it a go…not for us, but for you!

“I had no idea what to expect but I’m so glad I went, it was the most welcoming dance class I’ve ever been to.”

— Shani, 46
